Auditions
Please come prepared to sing something from a contemporary musical, approximately 16 bars. Please bring your own backtrack. We will have a speaker that you can connect to. We also may ask for you to stay for the group sections of the audition--to learn a song from the show and perform with other auditionees if time permits.
Individuals who participate in the concert preview will receive a $150 stipend. There will be a few rehearsals leading up to the one-night only event.
Those wishing to audition should schedule a time.:
Auditions will be held at the Alliance Theatre in Trolley Square.
Vivian, Sweet Vivian is a musical written by longtime Wasatch friend George Plautz. George died in 2023 leaving behind the makings of this musical. His friends have picked up the project, finishing the musical. The team is looking for feedback from the concert reading--what works? what doesn't?
Vivian, Sweet Vivian is slated to be a part of Wasatch's 28th season. It will continue to be revised before then based on feedback received. Individuals who are cast in the concert version have no obligation beyond the preview but will be considered strongly for participation in the full production, if they so wish.
The concert preview will be stage directed by Jim Martin, musical directed by Stephanie Sabin. It will be performed April 27, 7 pm at the Regent Street Black Box at the Eccles, where Wasatch Theatre Company performs as a resident theatre company.
The musical follows the story of Vivian Maier, a nanny and photographer who didn't know her own strength. She took pictures as a form of personal expression, never realizing they would be "discovered" after her death. What responsibility do we have to share our art with the world? Where are the hidden artists of our generation?
